Amidst the works' compelling immediacy, Sebastian employs negative space as a tranquil counterbalance, offering respite to observers. Self-taught and working across London, Cape Town, and Italy, he infuses his paintings with impressions gleaned from his daily experiences. He deconstructs the shapes and colours that surround him, using them as the foundation for his artistic expressions—an intimate connection with accidental occurrences in life that he eagerly reflects back onto the world. This method in itself creates a kind of democratised regeneration. Though visually and aesthetically distinct from Pop Art, Sebastian's works borrow from its democratising and regenerative sensibilities: certain impressions of the world are extracted. Sebastian mulls over their concepts and energy, only to distill their essence and create a related, regenerated expression intended to captivate the audience anew.
