b. 1955. Vallance is an artist best known for projects that blur the lines between object-making, installation, performance, curation and anthropological study. Vallance's over 80 performances have often involved interactions with foreign dignitaries, such as King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV of Tonga, Pope John Paul II, and Icelandic presidents Vigdís Finnbogadóttir and Ólafur Ragnar. He has exhibited all over the world and teaches regularly at institutions including Cal Arts.
