Lacy Brown Gustafson is a mixed media artist and art educator with over 20 years of experience teaching in schools, museums, and online. Her artistic journey began in childhood under the guidance of her paternal aunt and grandmother. After studying as a classical oil painter, she transitioned to abstract expressionism, expanding her practice to include oils, acrylics, watercolors, and printmaking techniques like linocuts, woodblocks, and monotypes as well as mixed media collage. Currently, Lacy explores layered mixed media collage, blending traditional techniques with experimental play. Her work reflects her experience in life and observations from nature, balancing reflections on the past with new growth. Always evolving, she continues to experiment with new materials, creating dynamic, energy-filled pieces. Lacy has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows, and her work resides in private collections both nationally and internationally. She is an award-winning artist whose work has been shown in prominent galleries and museums, most notably the former Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC. A Gold Key alumni of the Scholastic Art and Writing competition, she is also a member of various professional art associations.
