Wendy McDougall is an award-winning freelance photographer and photo artist. She has exhibited work in 20 solo and over 57 group exhibitions since 1984. Immersing herself in the entertainment worlds of music and theatre from a young age means that story, drama, presentation, production, staging, spectacle and extravaganza all influence and informs her commissions as well as personal projects to this day. Having enjoyed a music photography Retrospective, Wendy now looks to new creative paths inspired by living in the bush, away from cities that held her gaze for so long. The umbrella title for this new collection of works is ORGANIC MATTERS The retrospective was titled ‘it’s only rock’n’roll but I like it…’ The exhibition celebrated her music photographs taken over her 40 year career, and came about when Wendy was awarded ‘Best Australian Music Photographer’ in the inaugural AWMA’s [Australian Women in Music Awards]. The show, sponsored by Canon, toured Sydney and Melbourne before a book with the same name featuring the best of this work was published. Wendy offers a selection of this work on the Q8 Gallery website in brand new editions. To pre-empt the ORGANIC MATTERS series Wendy is revealing some abstract photographic works that have informed the path that Organic Matters is taking. Photographs by Wendy are held in collections of National Library of Australia, NSW State Library, Museum of Sydney and the Powerhouse Museum For full list of exhibitions please go the website to download a pdf.www.wendymcdougall.com.au
