BiographyI was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and spent most of my younger years growing up in Illinois. As a kid, I was constantly keeping busy building things with my hands, and soon after heading off to college I found the ceramics studio as a place that just felt right. I moved to Arizona and received my Master's from ASU in 2005, was an artist in residence at Mesa Arts Center and at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana. I've taught ceramics all over the country and have kept my studio practice going strong since leaving school. I've been showing my work with Art One since about 2003 and we've kept that wonderful relationship going for nearly 20 years now, even as I have been traveling and bumping around the country. I'm generally interested in exploring the human figure and using it as a vehicle for drawing or a surface to build up layers of colors and linear designs. My works are formal, but I often develop a theme related to the human state as I build. I explore my dreams, comfortable solitude and the border of the melancholy when I work.
