Greg Carter is a native American whose early interest in art was nurtured by his father, an accomplished artist and illustrator. As a teenager, he traveled to Europe and was further inspired by that continents rich artistic tradition. Since Graduating from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Greg has been honing his highly impressionistic style, exploring landscapes, cityscapes and the figure through the bold application of richly layered paint. In canvases that skirt the edges of abstraction, sculptural forms and blurry images resolve as meditative figures and lyrical market and cafe scenes. Greg continually finds inspiration in his travels abroad as well as in "slice of life" images if everyday living. Human nature, interaction and motivation are among the themes that the artist finds most appealing and interesting. The artist continues to explore a variety of subjects while also studying masters such as George Bellows, John Singer Sargent and contemporaries Dan McCaw, John Asaro and Wolf Kahn. Greg's paintings are featured in private collections across the United States and abroad.
