*I have come to consciously welcome mystery and unknowingness into my life, allowing the world around me to be data free, flexibly answered, and mysterious. I invite you to view this art with wonder and mystery and flowing answers to questions like; Why these forms? What is this one telling me? How do I respond to this pose, this face, this empty space? What do I feel, standing here with this sculpture? What does this work show me about myself, the world, the universe? Presence Series: being, effortless, silently aware, first nen from Buddhism- When working on clay studies, I leave the sculptural surface as raw as possible, allowing the viewer to complete the forms. Presence, I move the pieces beyond a simple clarification of the figure to a work with a highly resolved surface, keeping the form as clear, as full, and as subtle, as possible. Education: Honored to have studied with Mark Oxman at The American University and Magdalene Odundo at The Haystack School, as well as continuous studies from Maine to Bali. Teaching: Many venues from pre-school through college and continuing education, private and public schools, ad hoc and full time. Though recently retired, I continue teaching as a volunteer. Exhibitions: Nationally for over 30 years including galleries, solo, and juried group exhibitions. Regardless of the unanswerable questions of my life, art has always been my center and my home.
