Born in Colorado, a wanderlust overtook Robert Reynolds after earning a Fine Arts degree at Colorado State University. Traveling to far-flung locations such as Tibet, Nepal and Japan, he paused long enough in India to capture a Masters degree from Visva-Behrati University. This extensive knowledge of global terrain is reflected in the richly hued textural work of Reynolds. A deep-seated love of nature eventually inspired him to settle in New Mexico, where the Native American culture reflected his own belief in the sacredness of the earth. He attempts to instill in every painting the entire scope of feelings he had while painting plein air—the warmth of the sun, the breeze blowing, even the scent of the air. “Painting for me has become a way to try to understand the magic of a landscape,” Robert explains.
