After completing a degree in Fine Art, Joe Boddy spent his early professional career as a graphic designer. For 30 years he worked as a freelance illustrator for numerous publishing houses and design firms, illustrating more than 70 books and hundreds of book covers, puzzle books and coloring books. In 2013 he began dedicating his time to contemporary sculpture. Since then his three dimensional work has been shown in national juried shows, including the prestigious National Sculpture Society’s Annual Exhibition. Joe Boddy’s pieces incorporate fired clay, glass, wood, steel and reused objects. His intent is to create new relationships between objects. “I like to think of my work as taking part in the ongoing process of creation and evolution. A process that rejects nothing but instead finds new form, new meaning and new life as art.”
