While attending Tulane University intending to pursue a medical degree, Seth Fairweather had an art requirement to get out of the way. He settled on a glass-blowing class, a decision that changed the direction of his life. He transferred to Alfred University, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture and Three-Dimensional Studies, then received his Master’s in Fine Art from Temple University. Seth Fairweather considers his sculpture a salve to today’s ‘over-connectivity,’ with others’ thoughts and opinions inundating us, leaving little room for our own. He hopes his work disconnects us from our surroundings, untangling mass communication back into individual voices. Seth’s continued interest in the Sciences and Engineering allows him to fuse technical skills and stunning creativity, resulting in sculpture unlike anyone else’s.
