Andrew Sjodin received a BA in philosophy from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, in 2004. After spending his twenties serving in AmeriCorps in Washington state, teaching English in Thailand, and living in Homer, Alaska, Sjodin decided to focus on a career as an artist. He studied the drawing and painting methods of the old masters at The Atelier Studio Program of Fine Arts in Minneapolis for four years, completing his formal training in 2014. Sjodin’s paintings combine a French Academic drawing foundation with an impressionistic approach to seeing and interpreting color. Sjodin primarily creates still lifes and figurative works, mainly in oils. His compositions are quiet and mindful, calling the viewer to slow down and dwell within the work. Sjodin has exhibited his work in Los Angeles, Boston, Arcadia Gallery in New York, and a variety of venues in Minnesota. He has won awards and has had numerous works selected into the Art Renewal Center’s International Salon. His work is in private collections throughout the country. Sjodin currently lives and paints out of his home on a small farm in Isanti, Minnesota, and is a full-time program instructor at The Atelier Studio Program of Fine Arts in Minneapolis. 2023 AwardsHonorable Mention- Artists Magazine’s 40th Annual Art CompetitionAudubon Artists, Inc.
