"When I paint a landscape, I work to reduce the scene to its essential components. Whether it’s a shape that represents a recognizable landmark or a pattern of light and shadow that obscures and reveals new depths, the elements of the painting exist in harmony to capture the mood and feeling of a particular place. I want to give my viewer what is most important in the scene in the hopes it will help quiet the mind and evoke an emotional response.
