The work of José Ricardo Contreras reflects his training and his work as an artist, precisely between pigment and brushes, as well as the study of cameras and filming and editing equipment. For this reason the effort, generalized throughout the whole, to reveal small milestones in each of the two modes of emergence of the images; That is, that is why the works become intentional allusions to their production processes. Painting is his first medium. From there his reflections on the process of characterization of the space to be filmed are painted; His paintings reiterate the provisional nature of the space designed down to its smallest details to generate atmospheres and effects, both in an elaborate set and outdoors, both the containers and the contents accentuated by effects. And above all, contrary to the usual, instead of talking about cinema with moving images, video, documentary, in these works, without missing either the set or the preponderance of the lighting effects typical of cinema, both painting and cinema are merged through painting. Curiously, it becomes a post-digital, but silent cinema.
