PHOTOGRAPHY FLORIDA, USA Max Steven Grossman, born in Barranquilla, Colombia in 1971, began his academic journey studying engineering, earning his degree from the University of Philadelphia in 1994. However, it wasn’t long before he discovered his true passion for photography. In 2000, Max Steven completed his Master of Arts in Photography from New York University and the International Center of Photography. His unique background in both engineering and the arts has profoundly influenced his approach to photography, blending reality and imagination in his creative works. One of his most renowned series, "Bookscapes," features meticulously assembled libraries that exist only in his photographs. By photographing various bookshelves and digitally reorganizing them, Grossman creates entirely new thematic "Bookscapes." The themes of these libraries—ranging from Film and Rock and Roll to Fashion, Architecture, and Art—forge an immediate personal connection with viewers, depending on their relationship to the subject. In another striking series, "Seascapes," Grossman juxtaposes the same beach background with different photographs, altering the viewer's perception. Some beaches might feature a semi-truck, while others may have dilapidated buildings, often integrating elements from his "Bookscapes" series into these compositions. The result is a photograph that challenges our understanding of reality, making the improbable seem entirely plausible and offering a temporary escape from the everyday. Max Steven Grossman’s photographs have been exhibited globally, including at Beatriz Esguerra Art in Bogotá, the Museum of Modern Art in Cartagena, and the Museum of Modern Art in Barranquilla. His work has also been showcased at prestigious art fairs such as Art Wynwood in Miami, Art Southampton in Long Island, the Palm Springs Fine Art Fair, and the LA Art Show in Los Angeles. Additionally, he has exhibited extensively at international fairs and foundations in Spain, Hong Kong, Argentina, and beyond.
