Tien Chang is broadly known as an artist who has special passion in the painting of horses.​He was born in 1951, Taipei Taiwan where he grew up and had his early education. Through his young age and youth he had grown a tremendous interest in the subjects of arts and developed his talents in painting which was greatly influenced by the Chinese cultures and his love of Asian arts, literatures, humanity, and histories. His path to the art fields was destined but not forced that allowed him to wander freely to explore through the adventure with no boundaries. He has found his inspiration in Chinese ink-wash painting world where he could go deep inside emotionally, spiritually and technically. ​Needless to say that Tien Chang’s paintings reflect his own unique creativity as well as his honesty toward the interpretation of the natural world through his eyes and feelings; he uses brushes, ink, colors, rice paper, and canvas to express the beauty of the “image of mind” and his paintings have been continuously evolving and revolutionary in each phases of his life. ​There is an abundance of passion showing in his horse paintings. ​His paintings invite the audience to feel the spirits of the horses and what his insights are into the concept of the artistic expressions that based on eastern aesthetics and he passionately substantiate all those concepts through the beautiful shapes, lines, ink shades, shadow, blank, dots and brush strokes in his horse painting that transcendent beyond ancient times in entering into the enormous space as if he catches the moments of horse’s movement. ​He communicates with you what he sees horses in his mind that can be transformed into art. They are not just horses of animal shapes but animals of spirits and purity that expand your visual sense into another dimension. ​His art works have been shown in Canada as well as internationally including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and collected by some art galleries, libraries, and private collections.​
