Tyler Murphy grew up near Joliet, Montana, and now lives in Billings. His subject matter comes from the country he knows best: the Beartooth front, the backroads of Eastern Montana, the rhythms of working land and the people who tend it.His paintings are after something specific: moments that are ordinary to the people living them and increasingly rare to everyone else. Murphy works slowly and deliberately, painting by hand what the world is moving past too quickly to notice."Just as a sunrise or sunset only lasts so long," he says, "one day such work may only be found in paintings and photographs."
