Roy Kiyooka was a Canadian artist whose work spanned multiple mediums, including painting, photography, poetry, and sculpture. Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to Japanese-Canadian parents, Kiyooka's art reflects the complexity of his heritage and the experiences of displacement, identity, and belonging. His early career was influenced by his involvement with the Vancouver School of contemporary art. As a member of the Canadian Artists' Representation, Kiyooka played a key role in pushing the boundaries of the Canadian art world in the mid-20th century.
