Born in Indianapolis, Melanie Parke received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago. Her landscape and still life paintings are inspired by the surroundings at her studio in Arcadia, Michigan. In her still life compositions, she reconstructs familiar interiors and filters them through the ideology of memory. Flowers, decorative objects, and domestic settings combine into a homespun narrative expressing nostalgia, comfort and pleasure.
