ARTIST STATEMENT As a contemporary painter, I explore the depths of emotional landscapes and the complexities of the human psyche. My work is rooted in a mysticism that acknowledges the profound connection between all living beings and the environments we inhabit. I am driven by a desire to explore the essence of what it means to be alive-the unknowns, the agony, the ecstasy, and the mystery that define our existence. Growing up on a ranch that has been in our family for four generations, I developed a deep appreciation for the raw textures and energies of the land and its inhabitants. This connection informs my artistic practice, where I draw inspiration from the interplay of light and shadow, both in the landscapes that surround me and within our emotional landscapes. My paintings are bold expressions of color and movement, that aspire to connect with the viewer on a visceral level. For me, painting is a sacred homecoming- a means of reconnecting with my breath and being. Since childhood, it has been my constant ally, allowing me to delve deeper into my psyche and intuition. In moments of uncertainty, it grounds me, connecting me to my body and transcending the physical world. Like light that flows over landscapes and permeates every aspect of our being, I take comfort in the energy that flows through me and onto the surface. My work serves as an invitation- inviting viewers to courageously explore their own emotional landscapes in the comfort of our shared humanity. BIOGRAPHY Carly Allen Martin is an acclaimed contemporary artist best known for her use of color and lyrical style of painting. Allen Martin studied at Santa Reperata International School of Art in Florence, Italy, The European Academy of Art in Trier, Germany, and Aoyama Gakiun University in Tokyo, Japan. She holds a BFA in painting from Texas Christian University. Allen Martin’s work is collected both privately and publicly within the United States and internationally. Public collections of her work include BBVA Compass Bank, Texas Oncology Hospital, and Texas Christian University. Allen Martin has been featured in a variety of notable publications including Paper City, Modern Luxury, Luxe, FortWorth Magazine, 360 Southwest, Food Network Magazine, and The Dallas Morning News.
