"I work perceptually in the landscape to convey its striking forms, lines, and contrasting values. My compositions start with an interesting tree or a unique landscape arrangement. I begin my work in nature and then finalize my compositions in the studio, where I draw inspiration from sketches and memory. Throughout my process, I am intrigued by the discoveries along the way, which sometimes lead me in unexpected directions. My artwork is a personal interpretation of my surroundings, and my prints and paintings reflect the connection that I have with the natural world. The creation of a work of art for me involves a balance; how to simplify the visual information before me…what to leave in or out, as I strive to capture the essence of my experience.” Jean Allemeier Boot has been passionate about art for her entire life and has worked professionally as a fine artist since 2008. She originally worked in a medical field and returned to school to earn a BFA degree in Studio Art, with a minor in Art History. She now melds her interests of biology and art through her depictions of the natural world, both in printmaking and oil paintings. Jean is a juried member of the Society of American Graphic Artists and the Boston Printmakers. Her work has been exhibited in state, national, and international exhibitions. She is represented by LaFontsee Galleries, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she lives and works.
