Missy Morrow plans each piece from background to foreground, striking a balance by leaving certain areas to develop organically as technique and process dictate. Vintage wallpaper and mechanical drawings, vellum and untreated plywood are her materials of choice. She works representationally in acrylic paint, depicting birds, flowers, and recreational subjects such as bicycles, sailboats, or a cup of tea. Her paintings set up whimsical scenes that tell stories and capture pleasant moments, refreshing and uplifting the viewer.Missy Morrow studied chemistry at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI and went on to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, MI.
