“My work is inspired by light, nature and the power of place. I am driven to paint what is unseen and to create a place for the soul to wander. My work often seems to ask questions. What is around that bend? Where does that path lead? These are questions we all have as we go through life. Looking outside often helps with what we have going on inside. Standing back and taking the long view - sometimes that is when we see things more clearly. I have developed a deep appreciation for the landscape of Michigan, having lived here for almost 20 years. I focus on painting the feeling of a place, striving to express the gentle mystery and powerful energy present in our surroundings. Light itself is often the subject of my work, and painting en plein air is the most fulfilling and challenging way to purse my passion.” Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Kathy has studied and practiced art throughout her life.
