"I spend a lot of time thinking about connections to others, to environments, memories, and to ourselves – I seek to bring life to these intangible connections using places, objects and color palettes that are nostalgic and often melancholic in nature. My mixed media paintings are both meditations on these connections, as well as recollections of past experiences documenting the themes of growing up in the rural/shoreline of Michigan.” Laura Brown earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University. She continues to create art in Grand Rapids, inspired by her own memories of Michigan and the abundant coastal and rural landscape. Her mixed media artwork has also found a home across multiple settings including magazines, book covers, and beer labels.
