"One of my favorite things to do is take off my glasses to view the world (I am very near sighted!). The world immediately becomes simplified and abstract. Shape and color, contrast, harmony or tension becomes obvious. The human form is easily interchangeable with landscape and vice versa. A three dimensional scene becomes a series of flat colorful shapes. Working with encaustic medium, paint and a torch I attempt to interpret my experiences onto a flat panel. This process yields unpredictable results and endless possibilities. The goal I have for my art is to continue to work toward abstraction; it’s something I have been attracted to for 25+ years. Sharing my work and knowledge is also important to me. Contributing to my local artist community through teaching and collaboration is deeply satisfying and inspiring.” Deborah Eyde is an artist based in Ann Arbor, MI. She studied painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has been painting for 30+ years. She sells her work through several galleries and has work in private collections in the US and abroad.
