"I am drawn to photography as a medium as it allows me to be fully present in the moment, aware and alert. In my work I attempt to capture the play between light and shadow, the hidden details of a scene or object, the beauty of a moment. Then I present my work to the viewer in the hope that they will find their own connection to it. That it will evoke a memory or create a feeling in them." Daniel J. Combs is from Waterford, New York. He attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan, earning a B.A. in English and Communication. His passion, which has developed over the years, is photography. However, it is Daniel’s career as a sommelier that has enabled him to travel throughout the United States and Europe. After several years of living in Vermont, Seattle, and New York City, he resides here in West Michigan.
