“My work over the last several years has been an exploration of our interior lives, creating emotional landscapes. During the last year, I have delved deeper into teaching, studying, and practicing the fundamentals of art making. One of the exercises I practice is creating intricate color charts with limited palettes. In 2022, I discovered a limited palette that excited and intrigued me. I have committed to working with this palette exclusively for the time being in order to explore the wide range of colors this small handful of pigments can create. The interesting part is how much more creativity and freedom I have by choosing to work deeper rather than wider. By creating distinct multiple layers and incorporating handmade collage papers into those layers, I am introducing more complexity and richness to the finished pieces. I love the act of covering layers with more layers – revealing, concealing, and building. Just as time augments each of us, each layer changes the composition in some manner, it is inevitable.” Pamela Roberson is an artist based in Ocklawaha, FL.
