Douglas Mull deftly achieves a tonal quality in his work that reflects the playful effects of shadow and light and the effects each causes upon its surroundings. An intimacy with this has captured Mull's attention throughout his life. Gifted with a natural talent, Douglas is able to express his sensitivity for composition, light and shadows in multiple mediums. Whether painting with the rich color of oil or the liquidity of watercolor, he is able to beautifully capture his favorite subjects, landscapes and still life compositions. To lessen his exposure to the corporate world and raise his children, Douglas returned to West Michigan where he began his illustration and graphic design business. As a pastime, he reacquainted himself with his love for painting. Douglas graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design where he majored in Fine Art and Illustration. During his college years he was awarded several illustration honors. Douglas draws from over 30 years of experience in advertising and graphic design, first working for the firm of “Semi-Original-Graphics”, located in Chicago, as an illustrator. He soon moved into advertising at Leo Burnett Advertising also in Chicago, where he was an art director on many high profile accounts. Douglas' fine art has been acquired by many private collectors and corporations including The Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center and Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
