This sculptor in stone, wood, resin, metal and ceramics taught in the Carmel School District for sixteen years. Wiese studied at California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland, Fresno State College, and private instruction with Dutch-American polymath Alexander Weygers of Carmel Valley. For his Master’s thesis in art, Wiese wrote on the local craftspeople of Carmel. Students remember their beloved teacher for his simple philosophy of artistic process: “Create a design, make a plan, and follow the steps.”
