Ann grew up in a household where things were made — pottery, clocks, drawings, things you could use and hang on a wall. Making things came naturally and is a practice she has pursued since childhood. At Oberlin College she earned a BA in drawing and painting. After college, she moved to New York City and worked at the Museum of Modern Art while pursuing her art practice and study in graphic design. After a long career as a graphic designer, she felt a longing to return her focus to the more personal pursuit of art-making, reigniting a creative drive that was so alive during her twenties. Ann was juried into the CAA in 2021. Composed abstractly, her work often combines a loose gestural application of paint with defined shapes and delicate marks. The work reflects an attraction to collisions of color, shapes, and lines within spacious environments that find peace in chaos.
