Jack Bernard Bevier was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on June 6, 1923. He was primarily a watercolor painter who specialized in rural country landscapes, seascapes and harbor scenes of the Monterey Peninsula, and foreign locales.Bevier was educated in Ann Arbor, Michigan before serving three years in the Army Air Corp during World War II. When he was discharged, he attended the Art Institute of Chicago where he graduated with honors. After six years of painting and working in the commercial art business in Chicago, Bevier moved to California. He settled in the Salinas area on the Monterey Peninsula in 1956 and operated a gallery in Carmel, California for many years.His works have been exhibited at the National Watercolor Society Annual Shows, the California State Fair, Experimental Aircraft Association Annual Event, and the Carmel Art Association Gallery, to name a few. He was an award winner in many of the venues in which he showed his work.Bevier was a Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society (NWS). He was a member of the Alumni Association of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Delta Phi Delta Honor Art Society. He became a member of the Carmel Art Association in 1969, serving on their Board of Directors in 1971, 1973 and 1974.Jack Bevier died in Salinas, California on July 15, 1996.
