Cora Ennis Morris (b. 1965 Hartford, CT) is an American artist specializing in painting, printmaking, photography and the encaustic medium currently based just outside of Savannah, Georgia. Born and raised in New England she has always had a deep-seated love for landscapes and the sea. Cora’s work reflects her belief in the vital role these elements play in the health of our planet. Through her art, she advocates for environmental stewardship, emphasizing the need for respect and care for the natural world. Cora’s creative practice, depending on the project, can involve any one of her mediums. But one thing does remain constant and that is her dedication to collaborating with natural materials, often incorporating beeswax, damar resin, and local plant life into her work to enhance its connection to the environment. From a young age, Cora discovered that art provided a sense of comfort and identity, helping her navigate the complexities of growing up. This passion led her to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking from Central Connecticut State University. Since then, she has exhibited widely, with notable solo shows at the Aetna Gallery at the Butler McCook House, the Manchester Community College Women’s Center, and the Cedar House Gallery. In 2022, Cora was honored to participate in Liza Pruitt’s “Emerging Artist Showcase.” Cora has also contributed to numerous juried museum exhibitions, including those at the New Britain Museum of American Art and the Telfair Museum. Her works are cherished by private collectors across the United States, and she is celebrated for the unique interplay of complexity and simplicity in her pieces. As one of her largest collectors remarked, “I absolutely love your work and I connect with it deeply.” Through her art, Cora Ennis Morris continues to inspire a deeper connection to the environment, urging viewers to recognize their role as caretakers of the Earth.
