Radek is an artist + designer + maker.Born in the heart of Europe, in former Czechoslovakia, he embarked on a transformative journey that eventually led him to the vibrant city of Toronto, Canada, in 1988. It is here that Radek has not only found a home but has also woven the narrative of his artistic identity.He is inspired by places he visits, people he meets. He takes interests in philosophy, arts, architecture, design, mythology and spirituality.He studied graphic design and advertising at George Brown College where, at the time, lectured some of the finest artists and educators the city offered.However, it was the subsequent exploratory years that unveiled his innate affinity for the transformative power of woodcarving and sculpting. His hands, guided by an intuitive understanding of the medium, breathe life into the raw material, sculpting forms that echo both tradition and innovation.For Radek, each piece is a conversation with the medium—a dialogue that unfolds between the artist, the material, and the stories waiting to be unveiled. Through his hands, wood transforms into timeless sculptures, capturing the spirit of his journey, the essence of his inspirations, and the beauty of the craft that has become his life's passion.
