Karyakin was born Astradamovka, Russia in 1923. He studied at the Gorki Art College until 1950 and then at the Surikov Institute in Moscow from 1950 to 1956. He was a member of the Russian Union of Artists and was active in Kaliningrad. He began exhibiting in 1956. Karyakin is listed in Matthew Bown's, A Dictionary of Twentieth Century Russian and Soviet Artists.
