"Being surrounded by nature is a spiritual experience for me. I respond to the landscape, from bodies of water to the spacious skies to the varieties of plant life in my environment. I feel emotional reactions to color relationships in nature & enjoy expressing its range & luminosity. Patterns in nature and textiles influence me; I also enjoy painting figures and portraits, as people are a fascinating subject." Kitty's work has been included in many public and private collections, including The Art Museum of Texas, The University of Texas San Antonio, and The Corpus Christi Regional Transit Authority. She was named one of “The Top Ten Artists to Collect” by Texas Monthly Online Magazine in April of 2017. With her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Texas at San Antonio, she taught full-time from 1981 to 2015 at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas, instructing in painting, drawing, and design. "Hopefully, my work resonates with my viewers, who might become more aware of the mystery of their surroundings after seeing my paintings. Expressing myself by painting inspires me to make meaning out of life."
