Haitian female artist Florence Martinez was born in 1942 in Jacmel, Haiti. She went to school in Port-au-Prince and began painting in 1959 at the Centre d'Art. She is one of the most gifted artists in her group and is represented by a mural in the Episcopal Cathedral, which was destroyed during the Haiti 2010 earthquake.
