Rachelle Bussières (née en 1986 à Québec) est une photographe canadienne basée à Brooklyn, New York. Titulaire d’une maîtrise en beaux-arts du San Francisco Art Institute, elle a reçu plusieurs bourses du Conseil des arts du Canada. Son travail sans caméra explore l’impact de la lumière sur notre psyché, notre environnement et l’univers, s’inspirant de l’astronomie, du transcendantalisme et du sublime. Finaliste du Prix Portfolio de la Fondation Aperture en 2021, elle a participé à des résidences au Brooklyn Darkroom, au Banff Centre, à Silver Art Projects, à la Penumbra Foundation et au Headlands Center for the Arts. Son travail a été exposé à l’international, notamment à Equivalentbehaviour (Londres), l’International Center for Photography (New York) et le Headlands Center for the Arts (Sausalito), et fait partie de collections telles que le Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago), les archives et la bibliothèque du SFMOMA et Facebook (Sunnyvale). Son travail a été présenté dans Artforum, Le Soleil, La Presse, Hyperallergic et Lenscratch. Her cameraless works explore light’s impact on our psyche, environment, and the universe, drawing inspiration from astronomy, transcendentalism, and the sublime. Bussières has been a finalist for the 2021 Aperture Foundation Portfolio Prize and has attended residencies at Brooklyn Darkroom, Banff Centre, Silver Art Projects, Penumbra Foundation, and Headlands Center for the Arts.
