From 1950 to 1955, Périclès honed his craft in metalsmithing under the guidance of the Salesian brothers. In 1956, he established his workshop in Port-au-Prince, which quickly became a vibrant hub for local artists.Périclès' work was notably influenced by his collaboration with Winifred Mason Chenet, the first commercially successful Black American jeweler in the United States. Specializing in "voodoo-inspired" jewelry, Mason Chenet operated in Haiti under her married name. Through this partnership, Périclès embraced bronze and copper—materials he preferred for their malleability and striking colors.
