Charlie Palmer integrates the movements of impressionism and expressionism to create what he fondly calls “naturalism” work. His landscapes combine design elements, light and color that are carefully woven into vibrant images of the Northwest. His passion for nature is brilliantly displayed throughout his collection. Palmer skillfully meets the challenge of back lighting in his oil paintings, combining light and shadow to achieve depth. Each brushstroke adds to the refracted rainbow of color. Charlie received his BFA from Boston University in 1965 and then pursued his MFA at the California College of Arts and Crafts. He spent the first twenty years of his professional career teaching while continuing to paint for numerous shows and exhibitions at prestigious Northwest galleries. He continues to paint full-time from his studio in Washington state and the surrounding landscape of the Northwest.
