Raised by a sculptor mother and ceramist father, Simon Erland has carried on the family tradition of producing three-dimensional work. Following early days of clay modeling with notable ability (such as figurative horse studies during the 1980s), Erland has taken the three-dimensional form to a platform beyond craft, by incorporating conceptual notions as imperative within his highly figurative pieces.
