A prominent American painter, printmaker, sculptor and educator, Professor Jack Sonenberg was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He moved to New York City in the early 1950s and became a U.S. citizen in 1958. He appears to have lived in New York for most of the rest of his life. His works have been featured in exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the National Gallery of Art (Washington, D.C.).
