Casey Hebel, originally from the Northern coast of California, is a skilled blacksmith who practices the traditional art of forging steel, iron, and other non-ferrous materials with a hammer and anvil. In 2016, he joined the United States Marine Corps as an Osprey Crew Chief and, over the course of five years, traveled extensively across the continental U.S. and spent more than two years stationed in Japan. His time abroad allowed him to immerse himself in the rich cultural diversity of the Eastern Pacific, visiting destinations like Bali, Guam, Singapore, and the Philippines. After completing his honorable service, Casey relocated from San Diego, California, to Charleston, South Carolina, where he is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Architectural Ironwork at The American College of Building Arts. His educational journey has been enriched by working with notable artisans such as Peter Ross, Caleb Kullman, Robert Thomas, and the master blacksmith Stefan Simmet in Germany. Casey's dedication to his craft has led him to compete in two of the world’s largest international blacksmithing competitions: Ferraculum 2022 in Ybbsitz, Austria, and Stia 2023 in Stia, Italy. His artistry has also been showcased in prominent exhibitions, including the 17th Annual Blacksmithing Exhibition in Spruce Pine, NC, the 2024 “From Core to Surface” exhibition hosted by the Center for Metal Arts, and ABANA’s 2024 featured forging exhibition, “From the Garden.”
