Ashley Laufer is an innovative, gregarious talent. As a multidisciplinary artist for more than 10 years now, Ashley’s creative journey spans various mediums, including gouache paint, digital illustration, and mixed media. Often drawing inspiration from her extensive studies in human anatomy during college, she skillfully incorporates the human form into her artwork. Her illustrations often feature deity-like figures and eccentric color schemes, creating captivating visual experiences for viewers of her artwork. As an arts activist, Ashley is deeply committed to empowering the Tacoma art community. In 2020, she founded an art collective called the Anxious Tomato, dedicated to assisting artists in reaching their personal creative goals. During most days, Ashley curates the exhibit space within the walls of Artco Framing & Gallery in Tacoma that not only showcases new artists and their works, but also educates people about the importance of art. One of her missions is to bridge the gap between emerging artists and their first exhibitions, fostering a supportive environment for nascent artistic growth. Ashley’s educational background includes studying Illustration at the Art Institute of Seattle, and earning a BFA in Fine Arts, with a major in Drawing, from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. She has been selling her work across the local community and online since 2011. With roughly 30 exhibitions to her credit, Ashley continues to make her mark as an important artist and advocate for creativity in the Pacific Northwest.
