ARTIST BIOGRAPHY Madhav Chooromoney (he/him) is a multidisciplinary artist, working with a range of media including painting, drawing, digital/new media, and installation. Originally from Mauritius, a tropical island off the southeast-coast of Africa, Madhav migrated to Newfoundland in 2018. He received a BFA in Visual Arts from Grenfell Campus, Memorial University in 2022, and has since worked as an arts administrator and communications specialist at the Peter Lewis Gallery. Alongside arts administration, Madhav continues to develop his own arts practice. Informed by his experiences as a racialized migrant, Madhav’s practice seeks to explore the ever-evolving feeling of home and belonging, with a focus on diverse cultures, histories, and the natural world. Over the past few years, he has shown his work in public project showcases, art auctions, juried competitions, and a group exhibition (Grenfell Art Gallery, NL), in addition to undertaking commission projects in Mauritius and Newfoundland.
