David is a self taught contemporary mixed media artist and painter. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico.For many years, he concentrated his talents in graphic and interior design.Eventually, his love of abstract art, along with an appreciation of the New Mexican scenic views and culture, motivated him to create his own brand of abstraction, including his showcasing unique visions of southwestern and urban landscapes.His paintings have been described as "whimsical, with a rich balance of brilliant luminescence and depth, expressing both earthly and ethereal elements and textures. They reveal an occasional touch of non-objective realism and spiritual symbolism, encouraging ultimate interpretation from the viewer." David was named a Local Treasure in 2012 by the Albuquerque Arts Business Association. He was the inaugural recipient of the ABQ Pride OUTstanding Artist Award in 2015, and he received the honor again in 2016 and 2017. His work appears in private and corporate collections and publications throughout New Mexico and beyond. In addition, his paintings are featured in film and television productions, and they are used in staging for local display home shows. His bold and strategic use of color helps to enhance the somber beauty of western, southwestern, and adobe palettes.
