*Brian Frus is a contemporary glass artist, educator, and gallery owner based in Belfast, Maine. Frus’s practice spans large-scale public artworks and intimate vessels designed for the home. Most of his work borrows from natural influences and reflects influences of regional flora and fauna. In our current exhibition, Perfect Storm, Frus presents works from his Orb series and Landscape vase series. The first are modest glass-blown spheres that appear as raindrops magnified or hail fossilized. The second series of functional vessels are made from discarded pieces of glass from prior projects that are curated into patterns and color palettes indicative of the landscape in various seasons or weather conditions. In both, Frus celebrates the sublime and mystifying beauty of our natural world in an equally alluring medium. Frus earned his BFA from Jacksonville University and an MFA from Rochester Institute of Technology. Frus has most notably exhibited work at the Karpeles Museum, Cummer Museum of Art, and Athens Institute of Contemporary Art.
