I am a self taught artist that taught myself oil painting starting back in 2016, when I was still a full time Naval Officer (now retired after 20 years!). I mostly learned from Paint Tube and YOUTUBE instructions as well as hard core practice. Nothing beats getting better than time in the seat. I decided to throw my hat in the ring and go professional about 2.5 years ago. Up until then, I had given away everything I produced and never had sold a painting. I started in Contemporary Art Gallery (no longer there), then Paseo Gallery One (still there) and finally Terra Rosa. I am rather in the early stages of a career but love the journey more than anything. I am still finding my style and voice and bounce around a lot in content, but have decided this year that that is just who I am. I love all forms of beauty and art. So, my mantra this year is to literally "paint in the present". That is, once I am ready to paint a painting, I want to paint something I feel very emotionally invested in TODAY...not something I was excited to paint 6 months ago. I am trying to become more fluid in this manner because I feel that if I have maximum passion to paint something during the process of painting it, then that will potentially translate to a more powerful viewing experience by patrons. I plan on painting until I reach the end of my life journey, so I hope I can continue to improve and provide enjoyment by sharing my art with others.
