Peter and Madeline Powell are a unique artist duo who work together to create amazing paintings. It's not common for two artists to blend their talents so perfectly, but the Powells have done just that. They met on Maui in 1976 and quickly began collaborating on their art. Over time, working together became their natural way of creating paintings."Our art captures the fun and special moments from our past and present," they say. "We like to take everyday things and make them as important and magical as they felt when we were kids. Our paintings bring out the childlike wonder that's often hidden inside us."Peter and Madeline Powell's paintings are known for their hyper-realism, which means they paint things in a way that looks extremely real. They focus on nostalgic subjects like candy and crayons, bringing back memories of eating treats and coloring. Their oversized images of Hershey Kisses, Bazooka Bubble Gum, M&M's, and lollipops make these memories come alive. They don't just paint candy, though. Their art also includes toys, classic cars, flowers, food, designer clothes, shoes, cosmetics, and personal treasures. Many of their paintings show these items in playful "piles," which they call "Pile-O-Powell's."No matter what they paint, their work is full of color, fun, and excitement. Their paintings are loved by art collectors all over the world.
