“The narrative in my work is derived from the past, present and future; I’m a conduit between the piece and as it exists in my mind’s eye and the visual translation.” - D. Kosmo, Mississippi Delta D.Kosmo of Lyon, Mississippi was born in Seabrook, Texas in 1971. He spent his early years making art, hunting for Indian artifacts, and creating music. He graduated in 1991, with a Graphic Design degree and then moved to Mexico, painting murals for nightclubs. During this time, he traveled throughout the country falling in love with the people and its rich cultural history. This sense of wonder and inspiration that comes from making deep connections in a region can be seen in his visual art and musicality. After returning from Mexico, Kosmo moved to Miami, Florida, working as a designer for streetwear clothing label. During this time, Kosmo participated in art exhibitions, garnered media attention and began building a new and diverse audience. His work can be found in commercial and residential collections both nationally and internationally. Kosmo currently lives and works out of his home studio in Lyon, Mississippi. A true soul calling came to D. Kosmo from the delta, the call to sink roots and call it home. His current work reflects his love of this mythical land and the people he meets.
