Linda Lillegraven received her BA in art from San Diego State University in 1970, and a BS in zoology in 1972. She earned a master’s degree in biology from the University of Utah in 1975. A summer doing research in an isolated corner of Utah convinced her that she wanted more than anything to paint the great open landscapes of the West. Living in Laramie, Wyoming provides infinite opportunities to see and paint the high, open country she loves. Her work is in numerous public and private collections around the West and beyond. She is represented by Big Horn Galleries, Cody Wyoming, and Tubac, Arizona; Ann Korologos Gallery in Basalt, Colorado; and Deselms Fine Art in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Artist Statement I don’t create my paintings to celebrate a tradition or to tell a story. I don’t want my landscapes to feel entirely comfortable. One could get lost in these vast grasslands. I do want you to almost smell the rising vapors of fumaroles, or to feel the looming presence of the prairie as it fades into rising darkness. I want to share with you the endless, timeless variety of western skies, and the wonder of a clear horizon, the boundary between the seen and unseen. Linda LillegravenLaramie, Wyoming
