Amy Sarr is a Senegalese artist specializing in analog photography. Her work explores cultural identity, collective memory, and the complexities of social and personal experiences. Growing up between Africa, North America, and Europe, Sarr draws from her diverse background to investigate themes such as gender roles, migration, tradition, and cultural exchange. With a strong foundation in the social sciences from Sciences Po Paris and Columbia University, Sarr approaches photography from an anthropological perspective. Through documentary, vernacular, and performative photography, she employs light, color, and texture to highlight nuanced details, balancing emotional depth with aesthetic research. Sarr graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2024, where her degree show project "So long a life" won the Artful Dodgers Imaging Award and was selected for the Source Magazine MA Graduate Photography Showcase. Her debut photobook, "Seeking Solitude," premiered at Offprint London at Tate Modern in 2024. Sarr's work has been exhibited at the Dakar Biennale OFF (2022, 2024), 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, and is part of the Musée de la Photographie de Saint-Louis's permanent collection.
